Contrary to popular belief, getting a site to rank highly in search results isn’t impossible and doesn’t require black magic or witchcraft. It needs an experienced developer who is skilled in coding and understanding just how search engines work.

What is “SEO”?

SEO, or “Search Engine Optimisation” is now a very big industry. In short, it involves the process of optimising a website so that it can be easily found through a multitude of queries in a search engine, such as Google, Yahoo or Bing.

I don’t need an SEO optimised site! My mate knows someone who works at Google…

Myths like this are complete rubbish, I’m afraid. Lots of people promise the world and claim to get your site to the top of Google with little or no effort. You should be extremely weary of people who charge you to do this, as well as advertisements that promise great results for a nominal fee. Treat them with the same vigilance as you would an unsolicited email claiming to be a deceased relative with a large estate, or so on. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Is there a guaranteed way to be number one result in Google?

Unfortunately, this is another myth. There is no sure fire way. Becoming a hit with Google requires a lot of effort from the designer/developer, as well as relevant input from the owner of the website. There are lots of things to consider, which I will be happy to run through with any client.

Do I need to pay extra for a SEO ready website?

No, absolutely not. All sites I design I treat as my own. I code it with SEO in mind and recommend the best ways to keep your site healthy and prominent in search engines.

Can I hire you to perform a “SEO health check” on my website?

Sure! I’ll be happy to look over your existing site code and provide some tips. Simply shoot me a message and we’ll get the ball rolling.
